The moon is high above a silent sea. Our vessel sails under the stars.
A gaze over the water hypnotizes me.
I lean a little closer and lose the ground under my feet.
Plunging into darkness hearing “Man overboard!”
Swallowed by a sea of black and blue
Sinking in the moonlight, I’m a man overboard
Could there be a beacon shining to, a man overboard?
My mind drifts to what the future holds. A foolish man still knows the odds.
Today a thousand people came aboard.
Would they rescue one man falling to the ocean’s floor?
My body is failing, I draw my last breath.
I reach out a hand with all the hope that I have left.
Then I’m blinded by spotlights, slowly pulled from the sea.
The beam from the beacon hides my savior’s face from me.
