Sooooo, Jonathan has been hounding us to start writing blogs on here so ya’ll can get to the guts of who we are as individuals…While I drudgingly do so with this first entry, maybe–just maybe I can cope for the good of the band, lol ;)

Be warned: I will probably be lacing most of these with sarcasm and sassy notes, but all in all I will attempt not to take up too much cyberspace and keep it PC…i also wink a lot to make sure ya’ll know i’m being playful…i’m also not a fan of taking the time to properly use Capitol Letters When Appropriate…annnnd…i say worrrrd quite a bit.

oh yeah, i usually can’t stay on just one topic so those of you who don’t even LIKE reading blogs will hopefully be entertained.

With that, I shall continue on to more pressing matters at hand: adventure.

This is what my life has been since moving to Nashville, and what’s to come over the next year…U see, aside from the band thing, I am lucky enough to do acting & modeling for a living…o it’s a lot of 4 or 5am call times where the makeup artist is poking your eye with liquid liner, getting your hair ratted and pinned so tight you can barely see, crying so many times filming a scene you look like you got in a fight(and lost) with Mayweather, and 14-16 hour days, but i wouldn’t trade it for the world…ok, i’d trade it for a full blown european tour with the band, but other than thatttt…..

anywhooo, it’s super fun and over the next 6 weeks our little band posse will be all over the US separately doing music, film, print, and spokesmodeling jobs…my adventure will start in LA for a week, Phoenix(my home town) for a week, Orlando for 5 days, 3 days in Nashville, and Kentucky for a week…I’m tired just thinking about it, BUT every flight is Southwest so i’m pretty pumped about the snack packs, lol.

even though i’m bracing myself for a crazy two months, i also consider my big veggie garden an adventure…it amazes me how a pile of dirt and a seed (that you can’t even see after planting) grows into wonderful culinary treats in a matter of months. i just finished resurrecting the whole thing from the biggest flood in the history of Nashville (no, seriously) and i have to bid adieu in a few short days…all the adventure off cultivating, nurturing, and discovering the newness each morning will be passed on to Jonathan and (hopefully) I will come home to a whole world of produce.

so what’s YOUR adventure? is it your kids? any certain hobby? traveling?

discovering music? saying the alphabet backwards?

i want my blog to be a place where you can leave a blog response and we can just have a big blah blah blog party.

so there it was…now it’s time to say goodbye to all our family. M-I-C…….K-E-Y………M-O-U-S-Eeeeeeeee….

The Great Nashville Flood

Hey gang, I’m sure most of you have heard about the enormous flooding that occurred in Nashville over this past weekend. If you haven’t, check out some photos online – it has been CRAZY! Opryland Hotel will be shut down for several months, water has risen above the stage at the Grand Ole Opry house, and onto the field at the Titans’ stadium. Every single person in Nashville has been effected in one way or another – in our neighborhood winds brought trees down on top of homes and cars, including the biggest tree in our backyard falling on top of our vegetable garden. Jordan was on tour with Josh Turner and came back to find the water had risen above the roof of his car – its a total loss. Nashville needs your thoughts and prayers, and if you’re able, please donate to the Red Cross or other organization that is doing so much to help those who have lost their homes.

Every now and then something comes along that breaks out the child from shell of the jaded musician I am. Something that restores my faith in commercial music – something that makes me forget that I play music for a job and reminds me that I make music because I’m in LOVE with it. That something hit hard last Monday night and was unrelenting. The bullet I’m referring to is MUSE. They performed at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and Jordan, Tyler, and I made the last minute decision to head downtown and see if we could pick up some scalper tickets for the sold out show. Going in to any concert I always feel like I’m skeptical – maybe skeptical that I’m going to get my hopes up and then be let down by a misfire in one of the key elements “is it all flash and no substance?” “is it all substance and no entertainment?” or “is it both flash and substance but poorly executed musicianship?” So, naturally, I was somewhat worried that my studio heroes were going to fall short of delivering a live performance that captured that “thing” they have done so well for several albums. From the second the lights went down, they delivered the best show I have ever seen. When I say they were unrelenting, it’s a gross understatement. It was 90 minutes of rock and roll. 90 Minutes of flash, substance, and musicianship that made me want to sell my guitars and become a banker. 90 minutes after which you just sit down, ears bleeding, sweaty, trying to seal in the memory before you resume life back in reality. When your dad gets that sparkle in his eye reminiscing about seeing Floyd live back in…whenever – this was that show – that show that you will reminisce to your kids about and they’ll think “Dad is crazy” but secretly they’ll wish they had a band they could care that much about…

Hey gang, thanks to all you Arizonans who came out to our shows. We had an incredible time (as usual) and felt refreshed and renewed by our hometown crowds. We just posted a few new show photos from our SKYE Restaurant show in Phoenix (special thanks to Dave Herzog for providing those) for anyone interested in checking them out. We should have some new video being added soon, so check back often, and feel free to leave a comment! Just for fun, here’s a recap of some of the highlights (most of which involve food) of our trip:

- Day 1: Jon, Cass, and Judy hit the Golden Greek (great Greek food in Glendale!)
- Day 3: I (Jonathan) successfully didn’t shoot Steve, nor get shot by him, whilst attempting to quail hunt (score: quail – 1, hunters – 0)
- Day 4: Cass overcame her fear of carnies and rode the big spinning tower cage-o-death ride at the AZ State Fair
- Day 5: Mexican Food (AZ Mexican Food is in a category of its own)
- Day 6: Proudly gave Don Derby (www.donderby.com) the nickel tour from Phoenix to Safford. Over the Superiors, through the sprawling metropolis of Globe/Miami, across the Apache Indian Nation, into the candy-cane forest, and out of the Lincoln Tunnel…
- Day 7: Attempted Mexican Food. Establishment closed. Backup Mexican Food settled on. 9 Holes of Golf. I shot a 48. Don’t laugh, I’m actually improving…
- Day 8: Mexican Food Encore. First place from day 7, open on day 8. Mmmmm. Cassandra risks life and limb by snakebite, to pillage through AZ junk (as well as nearly getting arrested for vandalism [all in the name of art])
- Day 9: Dune Buggy + Sharp Rocks = Flat Tire. Windshield + No Air Flow = Me trying not to puke in the back seat. Jordan enjoying the fine winter weather in Rochester, NY.
- Day 10: Safford Show! 500+ Attendance! Jordan, Tyler, and Derek (@DeeWeeZee) up at the crack o’dawn. Derek catches the flu, literally puking at soundcheck (the show goes on)
- Day 11: Jordan and Derek drive 3 hours to Phx, J flies to Dallas, D to Nashvegas. Jordan show with Josh Turner that night. Meanwhile, 2nd half of golf round finished up. 49 this time. Dang that 18th bunker. Repeat Mexican food from day 7.
- Day 12: Cattle Roundup. 600lb Ticked off Cow + Me standing between her and her calf = shoulder pain for the next few weeks. Private Party Concert that night. GOOD TIMES!
- Day 13: Phoenix Show! 200+ Attendance! Thanks to Skye Restaurant and Judy Marcum for making that possible!
- Day 14: Jordan, Tyler, and Don hike Camelback Mountain and then around the other side. Meanwhile Jonathan and Cass sleep until noon. MNF with Dave Herzog.
- Day 15: Catch the plane back to Nashvegas. WHAT A TRIP!

Home Coming

After 3 months of battling scheduling conflicts, fly-by-night rehearsals, and hand-making merchandise, we are so excited to be returning to Arizona for a concert in Safford at the Center for the Arts. As Nashville weather turns cold, grey, and messy, it feels like a spiritual renewal to be in the mild AZ sunshine and 65 degree days. We can’t wait to see you Safford!
